The AGT agt (Catalog #MBS841087) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AGT Antibody (CT) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s AGT can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).Western blot: ~1:1000, IHC: ~1:10-1:50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AGT agt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The AGT agt product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4557287) (NCBI Accession #NP_000020.1) (Uniprot Accession #P01019). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Polyclonal Antibody to detect AGT in human samples
Background: Angiotensinogen, also known as AGT and SERPINA8, is a member of the serpin family. It is analpha-2-globulinthat is produced constitutively and released into the circulation mainly by the liver. Angiotensinogen is an essential component of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) and a potent regulator of blood pressure. It is expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma. Angiotensinogen is cleaved into three chains: Angiotensin-1 (Ang I), Angiotensin-2 (Ang II), and Angiotensin-3 (Ang III). Angiotensin-1 is a substrate of ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) that removes a dipeptide to yield the physiologically active peptide angiotensin-2. Angiotensin-1 and angiotensin-2 can be further processed to generate angiotensin-3, angiotensin-4. Angiotensin 1-7 is cleaved from angiotensin-2 by ACE2. Angiotensin-2 acts directly on vascular smooth muscle as a potent vasoconstrictor, affects cardiac contractility and heart rate through its action on the sympathetic nervous system. Defects in AGT are associated with susceptibility to essential hypertension and renal tubular dysgenesis (RTD).
Immunogen: This AGT antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 418-450 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human AGT.
Positive Control: Western blot: HepG2 cell lysate, IHC: human hepatocarcinoma tissue. Handling: The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing AGT are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as AGT may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
