The Akt1 akt1 (Catalog #MBS629476) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Akt, phosphorylated (Ser473) (Rac PKa, PKBa) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Akt can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB).Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
Dilution: ELISA: 0.05-0.2ug/ml
Western Blot: 0.5-2.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Akt1 akt1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The Akt1 akt1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #24647360) (NCBI Accession #NP_732115.1) (Uniprot Accession #Q8INB9). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Akt, also known as protein kinase B (PKB), a serine/ threonine kinase, is a critical enzyme in several signal transduction pathways involved in cell proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and diabetes. Akt is activated following its phosphorylation at two regulatory residues. Phosphorylation of threonine on the kinase domain, catalyzed by PDK1, is essential for Akt activation. Akt activity is augmented approximately 10-fold by phosphorylation at the serine on the hydrophobic motif by PDK2. Phosphorylation of Thr308 and Ser473 activates Akt. Phosphorylation at Thr309 and Ser474 on Akt 1 and 2, and on Thr305 on Akt result in their activation. Akt promotes cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis by phosphorylating and inactivating several targets, including Bad, forkhead transcription factors, c-Raf and caspase-9. The activation of Akt is negatively regulated by PTEN, a PIP3 specific phosphatase, and SHIP, a SH2-domain containing inositol 5-phosphatase.
Immunogen: Synthesized phosphopeptide (KLH conjugated) derived from human Akt around the phosphorylation site of serine 473 (Q-F-S473-Y-S). Peptide is identical to the sequence surrounding S474 of human, rat and mouse Akt beta (Akt2) and S472 of human and mouse Akt gamma (Akt3). In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing Akt1 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as Akt1 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
