|The AKT2 akt2 (Catalog #MBS806119) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Akt2 (PKB beta) Antibody: ATTO 655 reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Bovine, Chicken, Dog, Guinea Pig, Hamster, Monkey, Pig, Rabbit, Sheep, Xenopus. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Akt2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA).
1:3000 dilution was sufficient for detection of PKBbeta in 20 ug of HeLa cell lysate by ECL immunoblot analysis. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AKT2 akt2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The AKT2 akt2 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4502023) (NCBI Accession #NP_001617.1) (Uniprot Accession #P31751). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Akt2 (PKB beta) Antibody: ATTO 655 with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis of multiple Cell line lysates showing detection of AKT2 protein using Rabbit Anti-AKT2 Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-148). Load: 15 ugprotein. Block: 1.5% BSA for 30 minutes at RT. Primary Antibody: Rabbit Anti-AKT2 Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-148) at 1:1000 for 2 hours at RT. Secondary Antibody: Donkey Anti-Rabbit IgG: HRP for 1 hour at RT.)
Background Info: Detects a 65kDa protein, corresponding to the molecular mass of Akt2 PKBbeta on SDS PAGE immunoblots. Does not react with PKBalpha (Akt1) or PKBgamma (Akt3).
Scientific Background: Protein kinase B or Akt (PKB/Akt) is a serine/threonine kinase, which in mammals comprises three highly homologous members known as PKB alpha (Akt1), PKB beta (Akt2) and PKB gamma (Akt3). PKB/Akt is a growth-factor-regulated protein kinase which contains a Pleckstrin Homology (PH) domain which might be important for dimerization of the kinase. Binding of phosphoinositide 3-OH kinase products to the pleckstrin homology domain results in translocation of PKB/Akt to the plasma membrane where it is activated by phosphorylation by upstream kinases including the phosphoinoside-dependent kinase 1 (PDK1) and PDK2 (1-3). Myelin basic protein and histone H2B are in vitro substrates for PKB, while glycogen synthase kinase-3 has been implicated as a physiological target (4). Key roles for this enzyme can be found in cellular processes such as glucose metabolism, cell proliferation, apoptosis, transcription and cell migration (1-3).
Conjugate: ATTO 655. Storage Buffer: TBS, 50% glycerol, 0.09% sodium azide. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing AKT2 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as AKT2 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
