The ALK alk (Catalog #MBS9411367) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ALK Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s ALK can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC).Immunohistochemistry: 1:50~1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ALK alk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The ALK alk product has the following accession number(s) (GI #29029632) (NCBI Accession #NP_004295.2) (Uniprot Accession #Q9UM73). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin-embedded human brain tissue using ALK antibody.)
Neuronal orphan receptor tyrosine kinase that is essentially and transiently expressed in specific regions of the central and peripheral nervous systems and plays an important role in the genesis and differentiation of the nervous system. Transduces signals from ligands at the cell surface, through specific activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway. Phosphorylates almost exclusively at the first tyrosine of the Y-x-x-x-Y-Y motif. Following activation by ligand, ALK induces tyrosine phosphorylation of CBL, FRS2, IRS1 and SHC1, as well as of the MAP kinases MAPK1/ERK2 and MAPK3/ERK1. Acts as a receptor for ligands pleiotrophin (PTN), a secreted growth factor, and midkine (MDK), a PTN-related factor, thus participating in PTN and MDK signal transduction. PTN-binding induces MAPK pathway activation, which is important for the anti-apoptotic signaling of PTN and regulation of cell proliferation. MDK-binding induces phosphorylation of the ALK target insulin receptor substrate (IRS1), activates mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) and PI3-kinase, resulting also in cell proliferation induction. Drives NF-kappa-B activation, probably through IRS1 and the activation of the AKT serine/threonine kinase. Recruitment of IRS1 to activated ALK and the activation of NF-kappa-B are essential for the autocrine growth and survival signaling of MDK.Morris S.W., Oncogene 14:2175-2188(1997).Morris S.W., Oncogene 15:2883-2883(1997).wahara T.,Oncogene 14:439-449(1997).
Immunogen Type: Peptide
Immunogen Description: Synthesized peptide derived from Internal of human ALK. Target Name: ALK. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing ALK are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as ALK may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
