Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the AMP Activated Protein Kinase alpha2 (5\'-AMP-activated Protein Kinase Catalytic Subunit alpha-2, AMPK alpha-2 Chain, AMPK Subunit alpha-2, AMPK a2, AMPK2, PRKAA2, PRKAA) with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western Blot of MBS622509 in mouse heart tissue lysate. AMPK alpha2 (arrow) was detected using purified pAb. Secondary HRP-anti-rabbit was used for signal visualization with chemiluminescence.)
AMPK2 alpha2 is a catalytic subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a heterotrimer consisting of an alpha catalytic subunit, and non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits. AMPK is an important energy-sensing enzyme that monitors cellular energy status. In response to cellular metabolic stresses, AMPK is activated, and thus phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and beta-hydroxy beta-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), key enzymes involved in regulating de novo biosynthesis of fatty acid and cholesterol. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that this catalytic subunit may control whole-body insulin sensitivity and is necessary for maintaining myocardial energy homeostasis during ischemia.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to the C- terminal region of human AMPK (KLH). In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing AMP Activated Protein Kinase alpha2 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as AMP Activated Protein Kinase alpha2 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
