The ATG5 atg5 (Catalog #MBS176873) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-APG5L/ATG5 antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s APG5L/ATG5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ATG5 atg5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.

The ATG5 atg5 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #17366828) (NCBI Accession #Q9H1Y0.2) (Uniprot Accession #Q9H1Y0). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Anti-APG5L/ATG5 antibody with the following immunoassay(s):
Testing Data
Testing Data ATG5.

Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Autophagy protein 5(ATG5) detection. Tested with WB in Human, Mouse, Rat.
Background: Autophagy protein 5 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ATG5 gene. It is also known as APG5 or ASP, and this gene is mapped to 6q21. It is found that knockdown of ATG5 in hepatocytes increased triglyceride levels with oleate or a second endogenous stimulus for triglyceride formation. These hepatocytes with ATG5 knockdown also had increased lipid droplet number and size. ATG5 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase which is necessary for autophagy due to its role in autophagosome elongation. It is activated by ATG7 and forms a complex with ATG12 and ATG16L1. This complex is necessary for LC3-1 conjugation to PE to form LC3-II.

Immunogen: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence in the middle region of human APG5L (82-97aa DRFDQFWAINRKLMEY), identical to the related mouse sequence, and different from the related rat sequence by one amino acid. Contents: Each vial contains 5mg BSA, 0.9mg NaCl, 0.2mg Na2HPO4, 0.05mg Thimerosal, 0.05mg NaN3.
Reconstitution: Add 0.2ml of distilled water will yield a concentration of 500ug/ml. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing ATG5 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as ATG5 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
