The CAPN6 capn6 (Catalog #MBS151220) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CAPN6 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s CAPN6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF).CAPN6 antibody can be used for the detection of StrepII by Western blot at 0.5 - 1 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 2.5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CAPN6 capn6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The CAPN6 capn6 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #13186316) (NCBI Accession #NP_055104) (Uniprot Accession #Q9Y6Q1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the CAPN6 Antibody with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis of CAPN6 in rat lung tissue lysate with CAPN6 antibody at (A) 0.5 and (B) 1 μg/mL.)
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Immunohistochemistry of CAPN6 in human lung tissue with CAPN6 antibody at 2.5 μg/mL.)
Immunofluorescence (IF) (Immunofluorescence of CAPN6 in Human Lung cells with CAPN6 antibody at 20 μg/mL.)
CAPN6 Antibody: Calpains make up an ubiquitously expressed, well-conserved family of calcium-dependent cysteine proteases. The calpain proteins are heterodimers consisting of an invariant small subunit and variable large subunits. This large subunit possesses a cysteine protease domain, and both subunits possess calcium-binding domains. Calpains have been implicated in neurodegenerative processes as their activation can be triggered by calcium influx and oxidative stress. Calpain 6 (CAPN6) is most similar to Calpain 5; the C-terminal region of CAPN6 lacks homology to the calmodulin-like domain of other vertebrate calpains. CAPN6 is thought to be involved in the regulation of microtubule dynamics and cytoskeletal organization. CAPN6 has also been recently identified as an HIV dependency factor (HDF), suggesting that CAPN6 may be an important drug target in HIV treatment.
Conjugate: Unconjugated
Immunogen: CAPN6 antibody was raised against a 18 amino acid synthetic peptide from near the carboxy terminus of human CAPN6.
Buffer: CAPN6 Antibody is supplied in PBS containing 0.02% sodium azide. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing CAPN6 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as CAPN6 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
