The GJA8 gja8 (Catalog #MBS9211309) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Connexin 50 Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human, mouse (Predicted Reactivity: Chicken) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Connexin 50 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GJA8 gja8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The GJA8 gja8 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #55953076) (NCBI Accession #NP_005258.2) (Uniprot Accession #P48165). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Connexin 50 Antibody (C-term) with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis of anti-GJA8 Antibody (C-term) in mouse kidney tissue lysates (35ug/lane). GJA8 (arrow) was detected using the purified Pab.)
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human cancer tissue reacted with the primary antibody, which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry; clinical relevance has not been evaluated. BC = breast carcinoma; HC = hepatocarcinoma.)
GJA8 is an an integral membrane protein that belongs to the connexin family, alpha-type (group II) subfamily. One gap junction consists of a cluster of closely packed pairs of transmembrane channels, the connexons, through which materials of low MW diffuse from one cell to a neighboring cell. A connexon is composed of a hexamer of connexins. This particular connexin only forms junctional channels. GJA8 is expressed in the eye lens, and defects in GJA8 are the cause of zonular pulverulent cataract type 1 (CZP1), a form of autosomal dominant congenital cataract.
Antigen Type: Synthetic Peptide. Antigen Source: HUMAN. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing GJA8 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as GJA8 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Cataract, Cataract microcornea syndrome, Cataract, Zonular Pulverulent 1, Chromosome Aberrations, Heart Defects, Congenital, Heart Diseases, Neurobehavioral Manifestations are some of the diseases may be linked to Connexin 50 Antibody (C-term).
