The H2B n/a (Catalog #MBS619758) is an Antibody produced from Sheep and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Histone H2B reacts with Bovine and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Histone H2B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunofluorescence (IF).Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunofluorescence.
Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000
Immunoprecipitation: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the H2B n/a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The H2B n/a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #157785601) (NCBI Accession #NP_001099113.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Autoantibodies to histone antigens have been described in patients with idiopathic and drug-induced SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, and other conditions. The presence of autoantibodies to histones are frequently found in several rheumatic disorders. In one study, the predominant responses to histones in SLE sera were to H1, H2b, and H3. Marked elevations of binding occurred to H1 and H2b in 33% of patients, while 25% showed higher binding to H3. The same study showed the highest anti-histone reactivity to be in patients with rheumatoid arthritis with vasculitis, while the highest reactivity in SLE sera was in those patients with a history of photosensitivity. In diploid eukaryotic cells, the chromatin fibers are about 20nM in diameter. They consist of two major components in equal amounts, DNA and basic proteins called histones. The histones are a group of water and dilute acid soluble basic proteins found associated with DNA in chromosomes. They are characterized by relatively high levels of lysine and arginine. Although histones are classified into a limited number of types of fractions with each particular fraction having a fundamentally distinct amino acid composition and sequence, numerous subfractions are observed due to the acetylation, methylation, and phosphorylation of various amino acid residues. Microheterogeneity or alteration of structure is dynamic such that the histones of a single cell type are found to vary during development. They are believed to play a role in gene activity and cellular metabolism.
Immunogen: Histone 2B, calf whole protein complexed to ribosomal RNA. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing H2B are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as H2B may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
