The Luciferase n/a (Catalog #MBS448081) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Luciferase reacts with Photinus pyralis and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Luciferase can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry-paraffin (IHC-P), Immunohistochemistry-Frozen (IHC-Fr).Western blot: 1:500-1:2,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Luciferase n/a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The Luciferase n/a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #3641553) (NCBI Accession #AAC36472.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Testing Data
Goat polyclonal antibody to Firefly luciferase. Luciferase is a widely used reporter protein to study gene expression. Luciferase catalyses a bioluminescent reaction which requires luciferin as a substrate, ATP and Mg2+. A cell extract containing luciferase mixed luciferin in the presence of ATP and Mg2+, results in a flash of light that decays rapidly and can be detected by a luminometer. The total light emission is proportional to the luciferase activity of the sample.
Immunogen: Purified recombinant peptide derived from within residues 340 aa to the C-terminus of Luciferase produced in E. coli. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing Luciferase are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as Luciferase may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
