The MUC5AC muc5ac (Catalog #MBS2525387) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MUC5AC Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s MUC5AC can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MUC5AC muc5ac for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The MUC5AC muc5ac product has the following accession number(s) (GI #748983076) (NCBI Accession #XP_003119529) (Uniprot Accession #P98088). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Background: Mucin-5AC is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MUC5AC gene. This gene has been linked to mucus hypersecretion in the pulmonary tracts and associated to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Gel-forming glycoprotein of gastric and respiratoy tract epithelia that protects the mucosa from infection and chemical damage by binding to inhaled microrganisms and particles that are subsequently removed by the mucocilary system. Highly expressed in surface mucosal cells of respiratory tract and stomach epithelia. Overexpressed in a number of carcinomas. Also expressed in Barrett\'s esophagus epithelium and in the proximal duodenum.
In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing MUC5AC are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as MUC5AC may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Eye, Intestine, Lung, Mammary Gland, Pancreas, Stomach, Uncharacterized Tissue tissues are correlated with this protein. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene.
