The MVK mvk (Catalog #MBS2528309) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MVK Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s MVK can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MVK mvk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.

The MVK mvk product has the following accession number(s) (GI #325178385) (NCBI Accession #CBZ48429.1) (Uniprot Accession #F0VY82). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the MVK Antibody with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis of extracts of various cell lines, using MVK antibody.)
Western Blot (WB) MVK.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Immunohistochemistry of paraffin-embedded mouse brain using MVK antibody at dilution of 1:200 (x400 lens))
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) MVK.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Immunohistochemistry of paraffin-embedded mouse kidney using MVK antibody at dilution of 1:200 (x400 lens))
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) MVK.

This gene encodes the peroxisomal enzyme mevalonate kinase. Mevalonate is a key intermediate, and mevalonate kinase a key early enzyme, in isoprenoid and sterol synthesis. Mevalonate kinase deficiency caused by mutation of this gene results in mevalonic aciduria, a disease characterized psychomotor retardation, failure to thrive, hepatosplenomegaly, anemia and recurrent febrile crises. Defects in this gene also cause hyperimmunoglobulinaemia D and periodic fever syndrome, a disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of fever associated with lymphadenopathy, arthralgia, gastrointestinal dismay and skin rash. Two transcript variants that encode the same protein have been found for this gene.

Immunogen: Recombinant protein of human MVK
Observed Molecular Weight: 42kDa. Buffer: PBS with 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol, pH7.3
Santa Cruz Alternative: Potential replacement for Santa Cruz Biotechnology antibody catalog# sc-27587 / sc-27585. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing MVK are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as MVK may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene.
