The NRGN nrgn (Catalog #MBS623565) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Neurogranin, NRGN (Protein Kinase C Substrate, RC3) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Neurogranin, NRGN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB).Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
Dilution: Peptide ELISA Titer: 1:8000
Western Blot: 0.1-0.3ug/ml detects ~15kD band observed in Human Brain (Cerebral Cortex and Hippocampus), and in Mouse Brain and Rat Brain lysates (calculated MW of 7.6kD according to NP_006167.1). There is also an additional 16kD band. The observed molecular weights correspond to earlier findings in literature with different antibodies (Li et al, J Biol Chem. 1999 Jan 15;274(3):1294-300;. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NRGN nrgn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The NRGN nrgn product has the following accession number(s) (GI #5453800) (NCBI Accession #NP_006167.1) (Uniprot Accession #Q92686). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Neurogranin, NRGN (Protein Kinase C Substrate, RC3) with the following immunoassay(s):
Chemiluminescence ((0.1ug/ml)MBS623565 staining of Mouse Brain lysate (35ug protein in RIPA buffer). Primary incubation was 1 hour. Detected by chemiluminescence.)
Neurogranin (NRGN) is the human homolog of the neuron-specific rat RC3/neurogranin gene. This gene encodes a postsynaptic protein kinase substrate that binds calmodulin in the absence of calcium. The NRGN gene contains four exons and three introns. The exons 1 and 2 encode the protein and exons 3 and 4 contain untranslated sequences. It is suggested that the NRGN is a direct target for thyroid hormone in human brain, and that control of expression of this gene could underlay many of the consequences of hypothyroidism on mental states during development as well as in adult subjects.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to C-KIKSGERGRKG, from the internal region of human Neurogranin (NP_006167.1). In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing NRGN are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as NRGN may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
