The PMEL pmel (Catalog #MBS6011160) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Melanocyte Protein PMEL, CT (SILV, ME20-M, ME20M, Melanocyte Protein Pmel 17, Melanocytes Lineage-specific Antigen GP100, Melanoma-associated ME20 Antigen, P1, P100, Premelanosome Protein, Silver Locus Protein Homolog, D12S53E, PMEL17) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Melanocyte Protein PMEL can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC).Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded): 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PMEL pmel for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The PMEL pmel product has the following accession number(s) (GI #5902084) (NCBI Accession #NP_008859.1) (Uniprot Accession #P40967). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Melanocyte Protein PMEL, CT (SILV, ME20-M, ME20M, Melanocyte Protein Pmel 17, Melanocytes Lineage-specific Antigen GP100, Melanoma-associated ME20 Antigen, P1, P100, Premelanosome Protein, Silver Locus Protein Homolog, D12S53E, PMEL17) with the following immunoassay(s):
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human melanoma skin cancer tissue (4 microns) stained with Melanosome antibody shows specific positive immunostaining.)
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Human Prostate (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded) stained with SILV antibody at 5ug/ml followed by biotinylated goat rabbit IgG secondary antibody alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.)
Melanoma gp100 a melanosomal matrix protein whose expression is closely correlated with cellular melanin content and which is a frequent melanoma tumor antigen recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes. It is a likely candidate gene for some cases of human oculocutaneous albinism not associated with known albinism loci. The gp100 protein is the most abundant glycoprotein in nucleated mammalian cells. The gp100 antigen is highly expressed in melanocyte cells, and recognized by cytotoxic T lynphocytes. The gp100 protein is known to initiate cellular immune response through the interaction with mature dendritic cells (DCs). GP100/PMel17 is a melanoma differentiation antigen, which is observed as the target of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) and has therefore been proposed as an immunotherapeutic agent in malignant melanoma.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal sequence of human melanosome/gp100. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing PMEL are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as PMEL may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
