The POMC pomc (Catalog #MBS6011769) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Proopiomelanocortin, CT (POMC, Corticotropin-lipotropin, Pro-opiomelanocortin) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Proopiomelanocortin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Dilution: ELISA: 1:32,000
Western Blot: 1:32,000 & 0.01-0.03ug/ml
Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 2.5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the POMC pomc for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The POMC pomc product has the following accession number(s) (GI #998476) (NCBI Accession #AAC60644.1) (Uniprot Accession #P01189). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Proopiomelanocortin, CT (POMC, Corticotropin-lipotropin, Pro-opiomelanocortin) with the following immunoassay(s):
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Human Adrenal (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded) stained with POMC antibody at 2.5ug/ml followed by biotinylated goat IgG secondary antibody alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.)
Chemiluminescence (Antibody (0.01ug/ml) staining of NIH 3T3 lysate (35ug protein in RIPA buffer). Primary incubation was 1 hour. Detected by chemiluminescence.)
This gene encodes a polypeptide hormone precursor that undergoes extensive, tissue-specific, post-translational processing via cleavage by subtilisin-like enzymes known as prohormone convertases. There are eight potential cleavage sites within the polypeptide precursor and, depending on tissue type and the available convertases, processing may yield as many as ten biologically active peptides involved in diverse cellular functions. The encoded protein is synthesized mainly in corticotroph cells of the anterior pituitary where four cleavage sites are used; adrenocorticotrophin, essential for normal steroidogenesis and the maintenance of normal adrenal weight, and lipotropin beta are the major end products. In other tissues, including the hypothalamus, placenta, and epithelium, all cleavage sites may be used, giving rise to peptides with roles in pain and energy homeostasis, melanocyte stimulation, and immune modulation. These include several distinct melanotropins, lipotropins, and endorphins that are contained within the adrenocorticotrophin and beta-lipotropin peptides. Mutations in this gene have been associated with early onset obesity, adrenal insufficiency, and red hair pigmentation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to C-NAIIKNAYKKGE from the C-terminal of human POMC. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing POMC are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as POMC may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
