The RPS6KB2 rps6kb2 (Catalog #MBS805298) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The p70 S6K Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Bovine and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s p70 S6K can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), ELISA (EIA).1ug/mL (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RPS6KB2 rps6kb2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The RPS6KB2 rps6kb2 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #55953117) (NCBI Accession #NP_003943.2) (Uniprot Accession #Q9UBS0). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the p70 S6K Antibody with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis of Mouse brain cell lysates showing detection of p70 S6K protein using Rabbit Anti-p70 S6K Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-146). Primary Antibody: Rabbit Anti-p70 S6K Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-146) at 1:1000. Anti-p70 S6K Antibody on right, IP negative control on the left.)
Background Info: Detects a ~70kDa protein corresponding to the molecular mass of p70 S6K on SDS PAGE immunoblots.
Scientific Background: Ribosomal S6 (S6K) belongs to the AGC family of Serine/Threonine protein kinases. There are two forms of S6K, alpha and beta, which have cytoplasmic and nuclear variants derived from alternative splicing (1). The activity of S6K is regulated by phosphorylation/ dephosphorylation events in cellular responses to various extracellular stimuli. Its activity has also been shown to be dependent on nutrient availability (3-6). The mechanism of activation of S6K is a multi-step process which is achieved by phosphorylating the 40S ribosomal protein S6, which then upregulates the translation of mRNA transcripts containing an oligopryimidine tract at the 5\' transcriptional start site (3-6). Recently, a highly homologous ribosomal S6 kinase, termed S6K2, was identified. It has 70% amino acid identity in the overall sequence with S6K1, and highly conserved potential phosphorylation sites of S6K1. However, the N- and C-terminal domains of S6K2 are quite different (2). As a result, S6K is a key player in the regulation of cell size, growth and glucose homeostasis.
Certificate of Analysis: 0.25mg/mL was sufficient for detection of SPC-146 in lysates prepared from mouse muscle and mouse brain.
Conjugate: Unconjugated. Storage Buffer: TBS, 50% glycerol, 0.09% sodium azide. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing RPS6KB2 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as RPS6KB2 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
