The tau n/a (Catalog #MBS626283) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Tau, phosphorylated (Thr205) (Tau Protein, Microtubule-associated Protein, MAP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Tau can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot.
Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the tau n/a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The tau n/a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #21357661) (NCBI Accession #NP_651575.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Tau, phosphorylated (Thr205) (Tau Protein, Microtubule-associated Protein, MAP) with the following immunoassay(s):
Testing Data (Cell extracts from African green monkey kidney (CV-1) cells, stably expressing human four repeat tau and a protein phosphatase inhibitor, were incubated with 0.50 ug/mL anti-phospho tau [pT205], following prior incubation in the absence (1) or presence of)
Tau is a neuronal microtubule-associated protein found predominantly on axons that functions to promote tubulin polymerization and stabilize microtubules. Tau, in its hyperphosphorylated form, is the major component of paired helical filaments (PHF), the building block of neurofibrillary lesions in Alzheimer\'s disease (AD) brain. Hyperphosphorylated tau is also found in neurofibrillary lesions in a range of other central nervous system disorders. Hyperphosphorylation impairs the microtubule binding function of tau, resulting in the destabilization of microtubules in AD brains, ultimately leading to the degeneration of the affected neurons. Numerous serine/threonine kinases including GSK-3b, protein kinase A (PKA), cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (cdk5) and casein kinase II, phosphorylate tau. Microtubule-dependent phosphorylation of threonine 205 is catalyzed by GSK-3b and cdk5 in vitro.
Immunogen: Synthetic phosphopeptide derived from the region of human tau that contains threonine 205. The sequence is conserved in mouse and rat. Positive Control: Recombinant human Tau treated with GSK-3b. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing tau are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as tau may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
