The Tau mapt (Catalog #MBS9405704) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Tau (Phospho-Ser404) Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Tau can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF).
Western blotting: 1:500~1:1000
Immunohistochemistry: 1:50~1:100
Immunofluorescence: 1:100~1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Tau mapt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.

The Tau mapt product has the following accession number(s) (GI #294862258) (NCBI Accession #NP_001116538.2) (Uniprot Accession #P10636). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Tau (Phospho-Ser404) Antibody with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis of extracts from C6 cells, treated with calf intestinal phosphatase (CIP), using Tau (Phospho-Ser404) Antibody.)
Western Blot (WB) Tau.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded rat hippocampal region tissue from a model with Alzheimer)
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Tau.

Immunofluorescence (IF) (Immunofluorescence staining of methanol-fixed Hela cells using Tau(Phospho-Ser404) Antibody.)
Immunofluorescence (IF) Tau.

Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis of extracts from C6 cells using Tau(Phospho-Ser404) Antibody.)
Western Blot (WB) Tau.

Promotes microtubule assembly and stability, and might be involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal polarity. The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, suggesting that tau functions as a linker protein between both. Axonal polarity is predetermined by tau localization (in the neuronal cell) in the domain of the cell body defined by the centrosome. The short isoforms allow plasticity of the cytoskeleton whereas the longer isoforms may preferentially play a role in its stabilization.

Immunogen Type: Peptide-KLH
Immunogen Description: Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of serine 404 (D-T-S(p)-P-R) derived from Human Tau. Modification: Phospho-Ser404
Target Name: Tau. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing Tau are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as Tau may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Bone, Brain, Embryonic Tissue, Eye, Ganglia, Kidney, Muscle, Nerve, Pancreas, Vascular tissues are correlated with this protein.
