S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase which specifically dimethylates mitochondrial 12S rRNA at the conserved stem loop. Also required for basal transcription of mitochondrial DNA, probably via its interaction with POLRMT and TFAM. Stimulates transcription independently of the methyltransferase activity. Compared to TFB1M, it activates transcription of mitochondrial DNA more efficiently, while it has less methyltransferase activity.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to CAYKWLYDETLEDR, from rat TFB2M, at C-terminal (NP_071761.1). In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing tfb2m are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as tfb2m may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
