The TOP2A top2a (Catalog #MBS627288) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TOP2A (DNA Topoisomerase 2-alpha, DNA Topoisomerase II, alpha Isozyme, TOP2) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s TOP2A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB).Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Dilution: Western Blot:1-2ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TOP2A top2a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The TOP2A top2a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #187954517) (Uniprot Accession #P11388). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

The human topoisomerase II enzyme is encoded by a single-copy gene which is mapped to 17q21-q22.The TOP2A gene spans approximately 30kb and contains 35 exons. Furthermore, DNA topoisomerases are enzymes that control and alter the topologic states of DNA in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Topoisomerase II from eukaryotic cells catalyzes the relaxation of supercoiled DNA molecules, catenation, decatenation, knotting, and unknotting of circular DNA. It appears likely that the reaction catalyzed by topoisomerase II involves the crossing-over of 2 DNA segments. There are about 100,000 molecules of topoisomerase II per HeLa cell nucleus, constituting about 0.1% of the nuclear extract. DNA topoisomerase II-alpha is associated with the pol II holoenzyme and is a required component of chromatin-dependent coactivation. Specific inhibitors of topoisomerase II blocked transcription on chromatin templates, but did not affect transcription on naked templates. Addition of purified topoisomerase II-alpha reconstituted chromatin-dependent activation activity in reactions with core pol II2.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide mapping at the C-terminal of human TOP2A, different from the related mouse sequence by 4 aa. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing TOP2A are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as TOP2A may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene.
