anti-IL-17A antibody product blogThe IL-17A il17a (Catalog #MBS691085) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit Anti-Mouse IL-17A reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s IL-17A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB).
Western Blot: To detect IL-17A by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant mIL-15 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL-17A il17a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The IL-17A il17a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #6754324) (NCBI Accession #NP_034682.1) (Uniprot Accession #Q62386). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

The antibody reacts with mouse and rat IL-17A with no recognition of IL-17F. Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is a CD4+ T cell-derived cytokine that promotes inflammatory responses in cell lines and is elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection. The cDNA encoding human IL-17A was isolated from a library of CD4+ T cells; the encoded protein exhibits 72 percent amino acid identity with HVS13, an open reading frame from a T lymphotropic Herpesvirus saimiri, and 63 percent with mouse CTLA-8 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte associated antigen-8). Human IL-17A exists as glycosylated 20-30 kD homodimers. High levels of IL-17A homodimer are produced by activated peripheral blood CD4+ T-cells. IL-17A enhances expression of the intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in human fibroblasts. Human IL-17A also stimulates epithelial, endothelial, or fibroblastic cells to secrete IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE2. In the presence of human IL-17A, fibroblasts can sustain the proliferation of CD34+ hematopoietic progenitors and induce maturation into neutrophils. Mouse, rat, and human IL-17A can induce IL-6 secretion in mouse stromal cells, indicating that all homologs can recognize the mouse IL-17A receptor.
Antibody Generation: Produced from sera of goats pre-immunized with highly pure (98%) recombinant murine IL-17A. Anti-murine IL-17A specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing immobilized murine IL-17A matrix. Buffer: PBS; pH 7.2. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing IL-17A are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as IL-17A may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
